Private Residence at Shirks Bayou - Niceville, Florida

A single family new construction residence on Shirks Bayou, located in Niceville, FL. The clients were interested in a very open plan for the main living quarters, with a distinct separation of the sleeping and guest chambers allowing the massing of the home to be made up of three smaller masses linked by the large sweeping rear porch that focuses on the bayou and bay views beyond. The clients dreams were met with a more Mid Atlantic / Northeast coastal vernacular that they were in love with. Some of the interior features and interests are the use of reclaimed pine board floors and a brick veneer wall to the interior with a barn door. Interior walls and ceiling were finished with white washed horizontal tongue and groove boards as opposed to plaster, giving the interior a coastal cottage feel.
