Tucked behind the main residence, this barn-inspired secondary structure was designed to house a private half-court basketball court without announcing itself as a gymnasium. The exterior reads as a natural extension of the property's New England vernacular, vertical board siding left to weather naturally, a simple gable form, and restrained window placement that gives away little of the volume contained within. Cast-iron sconces and a quiet material palette keep the structure feeling residential in scale from the street and neighboring yards, even as it clears the interior height needed for full-court play.

The building pairs the court with a cabana, extending the property's outdoor living beyond the pool and patio and giving the family a shaded gathering space that bridges athletic and social use. Sited to preserve sightlines to the rear yard's pool and gardens, the structure completes a rear-yard master plan that reorganizes the property around distinct zones for relaxation, entertaining, and recreation.​
